
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 38

Requesting the West Virginia Division of Highways to name Route 76
from U.S. 50 to U.S. 250, the "Veterans Memorial Drive."
Whereas, Hundreds of men and women from West Virginia have
faithfully served in the armed services in this country and around
the world; and
Whereas, The history of West Virginia veterans began with the
birth of the State and have been on the front line in the
Spanish-American War, in World War I and II, the Korean War and the
Vietnam War; and
Whereas, In modern times, West Virginia veterans have
distinguished themselves and provided examples of valor to the
citizens of West Virginia and the nation by gallantly serving in
military and peacetime operations around the world from the Persian
Gulf, to Somalia, to Bosnia and Kosovo; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the West Virginia
Division of Highways to name Route 76 from U.S. 50 to U.S. 250, the
"Veterans Memorial Drive; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways erect a suitable sign or marker on Route 76 to designate the name; and, be
it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner
of the Division of Highways, the West Virginia State Police and the
Capitol Press Corps.
